Criminal Fee Earner

RecQuest is working on behalf of a well-known Southampton law firm looking to recruit an experienced Criminal Fee Earner to strengthen their busy criminal defence team.

This is a permanent, office-based role for a qualified or experienced practitioner who can handle their own caseload of criminal matters from the police station through to Crown Court.

What you will be doing:

• Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters including motoring offences, assault, theft, drugs and fraud

• Attending police stations for client interviews and advising at the point of arrest

• Preparing cases for Magistrates' Court and Crown Court hearings

• Representing clients at Magistrates' Court where appropriate

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships in a high-volume department

What they are looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in criminal defence work

• Police Station Accreditation (desirable) or willingness to obtain it

• Strong advocacy skills and confidence in court

• The ability to work under pressure and manage a demanding caseload

• A genuine commitment to criminal defence and access to justice
