LawBoard lists 8,928 SRA-regulated law firms in England and Wales. This includes recognised bodies, licensed bodies, and recognised sole practices. Every firm currently authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority has a verified profile, sourced from the SRA's public register and updated regularly.
LawBoard is completely free for professionals. There are no charges to search firms, use the salary benchmarking tool, explore opportunities, build a profile, or send your profile to firms. Law firms can claim their profile for free and respond to one professional at no cost. An optional Pro tier at £139 per month plus VAT unlocks unlimited responses, enhanced firm branding, role posting, priority placement, and featured access.
Pick your role type, practice area, post-qualification experience, region, and firm size. The salary benchmark returns a market range and a mid-point estimate based on real legal market data from England and Wales. The tool is free, anonymous, and requires no signup. Professionals who choose to save their result can convert that into a private career profile in one click.
LawBoard works alongside recruiters, not against them. Professionals use LawBoard to research firms objectively, benchmark salary, and approach firms directly when they choose to. Firms get a direct channel to professionals who have actively reached out. Recruiters can still introduce professionals the traditional way; LawBoard does not charge placement fees for direct introductions.
LawBoard is built and operated by RecQuest Ltd, a specialist legal recruitment consultancy based in Romsey, Hampshire. It was founded by Ben Holtom, who has more than ten years of experience placing legal professionals into boutique and regional law firms across the South Coast.
RecQuest Ltd is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office and processes personal data in line with UK GDPR. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure within the UK and EU. Profiles are hidden by default and only become visible when you explicitly enable visibility. Recruiter contact requires a separate opt-in. You can block specific firms, including your current employer, from seeing your profile at any time.
Search for your firm in the directory at lawboard.co.uk/firms, open the profile, and click 'Claim this profile'. We verify ownership using the firm's SRA-registered details, so there is nothing extra to upload. Most claims are approved within one working day. Once approved, you can add branding, culture, team information, and benefits, and post roles to LawBoard professionals.
